Types of Toe Puff
Leather-based toe puffs: Made using a soaking softening method, typically utilizing cowhide. This traditional method was common in handmade leather shoe production, though it's less economically feasible nowadays.
Chemical sheet toe puffs: Softened by soaking in solvents (such as toluene), this method is a revolutionary material in recent years. It features a very soft texture when soaked in solvents, making it ideal for shoe molding. It is widely used in the industry due to its advantages of being inexpensive and easy to mold, despite its disadvantages of being thick, time-consuming to mold, and having poor elasticity.
Hot melt adhesive toe puffs: Softened by heating (around 100-120 degrees Celsius), this method utilizes pre-pressed hot melt adhesive to aid molding. It offers the advantages of being fast, thin, and having better elasticity compared to general toe puffs. However, it poses challenges in molding difficulty and temperature control.
Low-temperature hot melt adhesive toe puff sheets: With high melting viscosity, these toe puff sheets do not require gluing. Their simple operation allows for direct bonding through methods such as baking, blowing with hot air, or using a pot of hot water. This method breaks away from traditional complex operations, saving time and effort, thus aligning with market economic benefits.
